Franklin County Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Stephen “Geoff” Cody has been named the next principal of Western Hills High School, effective July 1, 2026.

Mr. Cody has served the Western Hills community for several years as a history teacher, basketball coach, and most recently, assistant principal. Superintendent Mark Kopp shared his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, “We are very excited for the future of Western Hills with Geoff Cody as principal. He truly exemplifies student-centered leadership and will work tirelessly to ensure Western Hills High School reaches its fullest potential.”

Mr. Cody expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity, saying, “I am excited for this opportunity to be the next leader at Western Hills. I love this school and I love the people I work with. I have worked with really good leaders since I have been here and I am humbled to be in the position to be the next principal here. I told the committee that I am not coming in to learn the school but to lead it. We have great teachers here and I am looking forward to working with them to make sure our students have everything they need when they walk across the stage to receive their diploma and head out into the world and for them to look back and say they had a great high school experience.”

Mr. Cody will succeed Dr. Ryan King, who has served as principal for the past four school years. Franklin County Schools extends sincere thanks to Dr. King for his dedication and leadership.

Congratulations, Mr. Cody!

Dear FCS community, please see the following message from Superintendent Kopp: Our bus drivers came in today and drove their routes to help determine if we could be in school tomorrow. Unfortunately they came back with numerous concerns and areas that made it just not feasible for us to be in tomorrow. As much as I hate it, it will be NTI day #9 for Franklin County. ASP’s will be open. Only ASP workers, bus mechanics and essential maintenance and custodial staff as directed by their supervisors need to report to work in person. All other employees will work remotely. We have a Google doc with all of the concerning areas that we will be sharing with both the county and state road departments tomorrow for them to treat with the hope of being back in school on Tuesday. Dear Franklin County community,

We are thrilled to bring this amazing opportunity to all of our families who utilize our bus transportation services. With this app, you’ll be able to track your child’s bus in real time, receive important notifications, and communicate directly with our transportation team. Keep an eye out for an invitation from us soon if you haven't already received your invite!

We also want to share some early feedback from one of our families. This is proof that this tool is already making a difference! A huge shoutout to Sherry Boarman and Brad McKinney for their dedication and hard work in bringing this project to life.
